Just a quick pop in to let you all know I survived Hurricane Sandy and I am now in full panic mode as I have an open house here in my home this week.  4 days without power backed me up a bit but I have faith I will be ready.  Ahhhh!  So much to do.  ttfn ta ta for now!

Hello Bloggers! Just a quick update on what I am doing.  I am busily getting ready for two shows coming up in November. I am having an open house in my home the beginning of November and I was invited back to an open house in the home of a local botanical artist. So I am losing my mind trying to get my house ready. :P  Funny thing is I am not worried about making jewelry.  For me that is the easy part. It's getting my home ready.  However, I am looking forward to it as I have not done this since last year.

I have been experimenting with making polymer clay bezels and using my own images in my pieces.  Let's put it this way I need help.  I think I will stick to purchasing metal bezels for a while.  I have been watching tutorials on YouTube and looking for more info.It is going to take some practice.

I am also working on learning to use Photoshop Elements 8.  I am trying to learn how to make a montage and make layers.  It has proven near impossible for me to figure out how to use it. I have tried following videos, etc to no avail.  I finally purchased PE8 for Dummies and I am beginning to feel some hope!  What I am trying to do is take a personal background image and paste an image onto it.  We'll see what happens and I will keep you posted.  TTFN TA TA FOR NOW!!!

Alice in Wonderland Blog Hop

When I found out that Staci and Genea were going to host a blog hop with an Alice in Wonderland theme I thought what fun!  I love Alice in Wonderland and thoroughly enjoyed the latest Tim Burton rendition as well as the classic animated piece.  Here's my Alice inspired piece I call Curiouser AND Curiouser.  Alice is an adventurer and she likes to try impossible things.  I hope to be more like Alice.

The colors of the piece are all over the place.  That is what I think of when I think of Alice in Wonderland.  CRAZY! Blues, pinks, yellow and even green in the ribbon. The following are the components and beads I used in this necklace.

Watch case -  recycled flea market find.  I gutted the watch and used this as the base for my reliquary. Scrapbook paper, Alice in Wonderland Clip Art from Ten Two Studios, beads and a key charm.  I wire wrapped the case with pink 20 gauge wire.
Souvenir spoon - a blogger gifted me a bunch of spoons.  I turned the bowl into a base for another collage.
Enameled Beads - Susan Kennedy from SueBeads
Assorted beads from my stash
Silk Sari Ribbon
Industrial Chic - Key Charm
I love when Alice tells herself "it's only a dream".  Some quotes I incorporated and embedded in Glossy Accents.  I waited to long to use Easy Cast, which I prefer for resin or of course Ice Resin. Glossy Accents is a good quick resin to use when I am in a pinch and it doesn't need to fill a large area.
Recycled watch face with added quote and resin.
"All this talk of blood and slaying has put me off my tea."
Vintage tea pot charm
The blue enamel beads are from SueBeads!
Industrial Chic key charm and souvenir spoon

"I try to believe in as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed my little Alice piece as much as I enjoyed making it!

This is on my bead counter.  I want to string some beads and add the Marie pendants.  Thanks for taking a peek.  I have a Alice Blog Hop coming up in another week and a half. I will post more info as it gets closer.  TTFN ta ta for now...

Check in time!

Hi all!  Here are a few pieces I "redid" this week.  I have a pile of, for lack of a better word, crap that I have been wanting to recycle, restring, toss, etc.  These two made the cut for restringing. So many of my earlier pieces were just hideous. My stringing and crimping has a lot to be desired.  I love to do mixed media pendants...collage, wire wrapping, repurpose vintage jewels, etc.  So I am not a big beader and crimper but i am determined to work on that skill as I love the look and it's time consuming to wire wrap every blessed piece I make. it would be nice to make a collage pendant and add it to a some strung beads. Anyway here are two pieces I redid over the past two days.

Here's my new 'do.  Look at it now.  This picture was taken right after my stylist did it.  Even though I am a hairdresser I can never get my hair as good as when someone else dries and styles it.
Ok, off for a walk and to work on my beading and an order.  I need to work on a commission.  Someone kick me in the pants! My poor friend has been waiting forever for her necklace.  NEVER tell me that there's no rush.  I take it seriously and lolly gag.  :)Have a great weekend!  TTFN ta ta for now.
